ONE-EYED JACKS Turns 60!

by Curtis Lanclos

When I was a teenager, I remember my Father telling me that his favorite movie of all time was a Western called One-Eyed Jacks. It starred Marlon Brando, and was also the only film he ever directed. It also featured some other familiar faces from Hollywood; Karl Malden, Slim Pickens and Elisha Cook, Jr. This picture has everything of which a good Western consists; action, humor, friendship, love, betrayal and revenge.

I remember watching the film for the first time on television in the early 1980s with my father and I thought it was a great story. Once I finally received a VHS recorder in 1984, I remember recording it so we could rewatch it from time to time. My Dad would pass away less than 10 years later, but I never forgot how much he adored this film.

Today, March 30, 2021, is the 60th anniversary of One-Eyed Jacks. If you’ve never had the chance to watch it, I thought I would afford you the opportunity to do so. Enjoy…
